Farrukh Shahab works out of Karachi and from a young age was interested in portraiture. He has won accolades for his fine work mastery of drawing and controlled use of colours, Farrukh has evolved from the days of depicting human figures and historical monuments on canvas.
His new work experiments with different elements of nature and real life. His canvases are rather busy with variations of human and cave-men like figures inter-twined with nature. Trees, water and remnants of old building have been put together in a deliberate and skillful composition. Pastel and monochromatic use of colour highlight his individualistic style. Although, the theme of contrived composition run through all the paintings of current series, the total effect is rather impressive.
